We’re excited about the arrival of the new 911 GT3 RS, a fast, thrilling road-approved sports car from Porsche. In recent tests, the 911 GT3 RS set a lap time of 6 minutes and 56.4 seconds, which is 24 seconds faster than the previous model of the GT3 RS. The test took place on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in Germany. Not only is this model incredibly fast, but it exudes the luxury drivers expect from a Porsche.

“No other Porsche model gets as close to racing as the new GT3 RS. Many innovative ideas from top-level motorsport were transferred; for example, from the 911 GT3 R. This is what our philosophy for GT models is about: Highest technology must be fascinating but tangible. In this regard there is no harder test for our ideas than the Nordschleife,” said Frank Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars.

The GT3 RS premiered at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March of this year and is currently available for purchase.

This year, Porsche is honoring the brand’s 70th anniversary, and the celebration season is packed with special exhibits, dealership events, and special promotions. According to Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, “Tradition is a commitment. Without our tradition and without our core values, we would not be where we are today. We plan to uphold the standard of technical excellence set by Ferry Porsche well into the future. Intelligent dynamic mobility has a great future ahead of it. And we have the solid technological expertise, creative employees and unique team spirit to be involved. We have what it takes to ensure that the Porsche brand continues to fascinate – even in another 70 years.”

Porsche dealerships across the county and the Porsche Experience Centers in Los Angeles and Atlanta are making plans for Sportscar Together Day—an international celebration of Porsche held around the globe from June 8th-10th. Always innovative and forward-thinking, Porsche has released a new all-electric concept car: the Mission E Cross Turismo. Porsche plans to transform the concept into a production vehicle in the near future. Chief Designer Michael Mauer stated, “It goes without saying that I would like to see that happen with this vehicle: our team has put its heart and soul into the Cross Turismo over the last two years. Perhaps that means I’m not very objective. What is important now is for us to see how the public responds to the vehicle and then we can draw the right conclusions.”

Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, the Mission E Cross Turismo garnered a positive response from consumers and the press. MotorTrend.com stated, “The Porsche Mission E Cross Turimso is a fast-charging, low-slung wagon: It is the second iteration of Porsche’s Mission E concept-which bowed in 2015 as a four-passenger sports car with suicide doors and promises to beat Tesla with more than 600 horsepower, 440 kW and an 800-volt system to charge its lithium-ion batteries twice as fast.”

The new 911 GT3 RS—a fast, thrilling road-approved sports car from Porsche—has arrived, and the prototype is an iconic green hue that evokes feelings of excitement and power. As you can imagine, this color choice was no accident, and the Lizard Green shade was chosen with careful consideration.

Barbara Sika and Daniela Milošević, the two designers responsible for the Lizard Green choice, explain the process of selecting an exterior color for the 911 GT3 RS. Sika said, “The 911 GT3 RS pushes the limits of what’s technically possible, so it also needs a cutting-edge color.” Milošević adds, “We match the color precisely to the character of the car. The color should be like a superb article of clothing that perfectly highlights the car’s qualities.” Sina Brunner, a Porsche Product Manager for Innovation and Color, commented, “Lizard Green is a very extroverted color that expresses sportiness, agility, and nimbleness.”

Studying the fashion industry, the history of Porsche model colors, and the image the brand wanted to convey, Sika and Miloševićdeveloped Lizard Green to be associated with the newest iteration of 911 GT3 RS.

Last week, Automotive News featured our Founder & CEO Todd Blue in the publication’s “Q+A” section. Mr. Blue is a member of the Porsche Dealer Board of Regents, and he took a moment to chat with the editorial team at Automotive News about the exciting future of Porsche and the nuances of the 2018 model year. Read a snippet of his interview here, and view the entire article on autonews.com.

Automotive News: How was 2017 for Porsche dealers?

Todd Blue: Fantastic. The connectivity to the dealer body is outstanding.

What major issues do Porsche dealers face?

In 2018, we have a transition year where [the redesigned] Cayenne doesn’t come till the third quarter. Pacing ourselves, with anticipation of what will be our best-selling vehicle, is a balancing act for Porsche dealers, but we’ve got some good planning.

Also our 911 volume is a little backloaded toward the end of the year. But things are in good balance with the product mix. We’ve got some really wonderful and new and fresh products at the beginning of the year like the GT 911s — the GT2 RS, the GT3s. We’re getting that now, which is very helpful.

What does the board of regents hope to accomplish in 2018?

Even though we’re talking about 2019, 2020 for Mission E, we are very focused on everything we’re doing on the electrification of Porsche. The time is now to be planning, thinking, strategizing. We are making more than just baby steps toward electrification, which is going to be a revolutionary thing for this company and the industry.

Porsche has committed to a major push on electric. Is it doing enough to get dealers ready to sell them?

There are meetings scheduled, in a healthy staggered way, between now and the arrival of that vehicle to get dealers ready. Nothing will be a surprise to any of the dealers. Porsche is on this. We’ll be ready, and they are getting us ready through a tremendous amount of communications.

What specific changes will need to happen at the dealership?

Whether it’s the number of amps required for the fast-charge system to charge these vehicles from a zero battery to 80 percent in 15 minutes, that’s going to be a huge point of differentiation, especially in the beginning, for Porsche. All the ways to handle the batteries, both the physical way as well as the maintenance, is all being discussed.

Always on the cutting edge of technology, Porsche is moving towards electric mobility through its E-Performance lineup, currently including the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the Cayenne S E-Hybrid. The brand promises vehicles that are fuel efficient, but never lacking in power or excitement.

Porsche explains, “Porsche E-Performance is everything that you expect from a Porsche. And more. It is goosebumps. G-forces. Adrenalin. Because we are not satisfied with merely boosting efficiency when we can take performance and driving pleasure to the limits at the same time. There is a good reason why all of our experience and successes in motorsports have a major influence on development. The result of our work combines performance and practicality in equal measure. A hybrid drive that perfectly combines the combustion engine and electric machine. For your everyday life. For an outstanding driving experience. For the future of the sports car.”

Seven decades ago, in 1948, Ferry Porsche released his first sports car—the 356 “No. 1” Roadster—marking the beginning of a brand that would quickly become known for its unmatched engineering, design, and craftsmanship.

Of this anniversary year, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG Oliver Blume said, “Tradition is a commitment. Without our tradition and without our core values, we would not be where we are today,” explained Blume. “We plan to uphold the standard of technical excellence set by Ferry Porsche well into the future. Intelligent dynamic mobility has a great future ahead of it. And we have the solid technological expertise, creative employees, and unique team spirit to be involved. We have what it takes to ensure that the Porsche brand continues to fascinate—even in another 70 years.”

Porsche’s future holds the promise of electric propulsion through Mission E, a concept which “combines the distinctive emotional design of a Porsche, exceptional driving performance, and forward-thinking everyday functionality.” We’re eager to watch the Porsche brand grow over the next 70 years.
