Porsche Ranks Number-One in 2016 US APEAL Study

Porsche_JDPower_Award
Just a few days ago, we praised Porsche for the company’s financial success in the first half of 2016, due in part to the release of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models. That fiscal victory would not be possible without the manufacturer’s ability to impress and please drivers. Just yesterday, Porsche ranked number-one in JD Power and Associates’ 2016 US Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. The benchmark test has been in use by JD Power and Associates for 21 years, and it measures automobile owners’ emotional attachment and level of excitement based on “77 attributes, ranging from the power they feel when they step on the gas to the sense of comfort and luxury they feel when climbing into the driver’s seat.” JD Power and Associates’ APEAL study found that consumers are much more highly satisfied with vehicles that provide enhanced safety features, such as blind-spot monitoring and collision avoidance. Vice President of JD Power’s US Automotive Quality division, Renee Stephens, described, “Technology-enabled safety features help drivers feel more comfortable and confident while driving their vehicles. These features are also ‘gateway technologies’ to autonomous driving capabilities, so the continued level of consumer interest in them will be a critical metric to watch as the industry evolves toward including more automation in new vehicles.” Porsche proudly claims many of these special safety features in addition to other appealing attributes, like the launch of new vehicles, a smooth transmission, and top-notch technology. These accolades led Porsche to the number-one rank in JD Powers and Associates’ APEAL study with an overall score of 877 index points (on a 1,000-point scale). The powerful luxury car manufacturer has held this honor for 12 consecutive years, and is proud to present a lineup of cars that continually excite and amaze drivers. JD Power and Associates also recognized three Porsche models at the tops of their categories. The 911 ranked highest in the Midsize Premium Sporty Car Segment, improving by 20 points; the Boxster won the Compact Premium Sporty Car Segment, up by 17 points; and the Macan took the stage in the Compact Premium SUV Segment for the second year in a row. BRAVO to Porsche for this amazing recognition in JD Power and Associates’ APEAL Study. indiGO Auto Group is proud to represent such a remarkable luxury brand in three of our markets—Houston, St. Louis, and Rancho Mirage. Porsche Earns Top Rankings in Kelley Blue Book Resale Value Awards

Annually, Kelley Blue Book, the go-to source for automobile valuation, releases a list of vehicles with the best resale values. This year, Porsche topped the list in the luxury brand category. The team at Kelley Blue Book said candidly, "This one surprised even us. Not because we don't carry Porsches around in our hearts, and not because we weren't acutely aware that Porsche is on a 5-star roll -- bringing its best products ever to the luxury and sports-car market. No, we just didn't think that Lexus could be overthrown from wearing our Best Luxury Brand crown. But there is a new king, and the throne is well deserved. Porsche's ability to seamlessly blend its high-performance heritage with polished luxury is broadening the company's fan base every year, and Porsche resale value is outrageously strong -- and that's how you win the Best Resale Value Awards crown." Porsche also landed 2017 Best Resale Value Awards in the categories of Best High-End Luxury Car for the 2017 Panamera and Best Luxury Compact SUV/Crossover for the 2017 Macan. According to Kelley Blue Book, resale value is a huge consideration for car buyers, noting that "over the first five years of new-car ownership, depreciation is the typical car owner's biggest transportation expense. It's bigger than the cost of fuel, the cost of maintenance or the cost of insurance. That loss in the value of your car will cost you thousands of dollars during your ownership period, but if you choose a vehicle with a strong resale value story, that cost will be much lower than if you pick a vehicle that plummets in value like a stone kicked off a cliff." The Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Awards are based on years of calculations and expert predictions about the market. The resale value projections take into account current vehicle data, sales data, market conditions for each vehicle, competition within vehicle segments, expectations of the future economy, and the combined experience of Kelley Blue Book's team of market and pricing analysts. The awards recognize automakers' outstanding achievements in producing vehicles that best retain their value over the first five years (60 months) of new-vehicle ownership. BRAVO to the team at Porsche for topping Kelley Blue Book's list.
